WA: Sex workers quit as photos made to go online

PERTH, April 19 AAP - A brothel's efforts to enter the IT age have struck a hitch,with two prostitutes quitting after being asked to place their photographs on the net.
Famous West Australian brothel Langtrees has taken the world's oldest profession online,but two sex workers have left the brothel citing privacy concerns over the photo issue.
Langtrees madam Mary-Anne Kenworthy says the brothel's week-old website has received1,400 hits, translating to half a dozen paying customers and four orders from the brothel'sadult products shop.
The website offers virtual tours of the famous Langtrees brothel at Kalgoorlie, theadult shop and a "love school" through which sex workers answer visitors' questions.
But there's been dissension over the site's "dateline" service, which Ms Kenworthydescribes as a catalogue of "on duty" workers, designed so a client can see before buying.
The service has a synopsis of the prostitute and Ms Kenworthy insists workers alsoplace an original photograph.
"Dateline" will in future display sex workers from around Australia, not just thosewho work for Langtrees.
Ms Kenworthy defends the departure of two workers from Langtrees, saying she won'tchange the photo policy.
She says clients are fed up with being promised a 20-year-old but getting a workertwice that age.
And she says the girls don't have to show their faces, but can just post a body partsuch as a leg.
"The client is much more discerning. We've got to fight a lot more for a client today,"
Ms Kenworthy said.
"He wants to see what he is getting."
The high-profile madam concedes half her 60 workers didn't like the idea when she proposed it.
She says she now has 90 per cent acceptance, and many of her workers have reportedan increase in business.
"They've just started to realise what it could do for them," she said.
She said one of the two workers who had quit over the photo issue had asked for her job back.
