Fed: Chaos if non-gov't schools don't get funding - Gillard

Education Minister JULIA GILLARD says there'll be chaos at non-government schools ..

if they don't receive federal funding before classes start in the new year.

Legislation providing 28 billion dollars over four years has been stalled in the Senate
by the coalition and Family First senator STEVE FIELDING.

It needs to pass parliament this week .. for schools to receive next year's share of the funding.

The coalition and Senator FIELDING are unhappy the government's tied funding and a
mandatory national curriculum to the same bill.
